Why this blog, why now?
Hello there and welcome to my yummy foodieverse! Hopefully, Prayerfully, you are NOT thinking here goes the 190488220th food blog on the internet. Maybe it is, but one thing I have learned in my short (youngish) woman life is that when you have a passion, you have a voice. And if you live your passion loud enough, somebody will hear that voice. This blog is my attempt to step out of my comfort zone and let my voice be heard, whether it is by 5 people or 5,000 people. I honestly see this blog as a digital diary of my food experiments and experiences. I see it as a channel to share my acquired knowledge with other food enthusiasts like myself. I also see it as a platform to humbly contribute to promoting African food (though I will be sharing about other types of cuisines as well).
I am a writer at heart who dabbles in storytelling. As much as we live in a fast-paced digital era where video content thrives much more than written content, I express myself best through writing, so I thought fitting to stick to blogging rather than YouTubing (though I am devout YouTube subscriber to many many channels!). However, I am also a visual learner, so my goal is to incorporate as much visuals as possible. I hope to get into as much detail as possible with the steps of the recipes both in writing and with pictures. For now there are just a few basic recipes, but more to come soon. I am trying to progressively add the recipes for all the meals I have shared so far on my social media.
To sum up, I see this blog as an outlet to share my deep passion for food and to nurture my creativity.
Thank you for stopping by for my blog launch. I have a lot of awesome stuff coming your way! Also, thank you for celebrating my birthday with me as I am launching this blog (obviously this only counts if you are reading this on the day of the blog launch).
The fine print
- A recipe post every Friday: the Friday recipe posts will highlight my experience with a recipe from my favorite food bloggers along with a step-by-step guide on recipes I will be trying from my favorite food bloggers or my own twists to existing recipes
- The spicy minute: every month, I will highlight a spice that can be found in my kitchen. I will briefly share what I know about the spice and how I include it in my cooking
- Restaurant reviews: I will start documenting and sharing my dining adventures trying various types of cuisine. I will also be recommending local African restaurants (DMV area).
STAY TUNED FOR ALL THE GOOD STUFF COMING!!! CHEERS!!!
